DUI charges filed against Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul

Nancy Pelosi’s husband was formally charged with DUI on Thursday.

Paul Pelosi, 82, was at fault for a crash May 28 in Napa County, Calif., Police said in an arrest report obtained by local news station KRON.

Pelosi was charged with DUI causing injury and driving with a blood-alcohol content above 0.08%. His blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.082% at the scene of the crash, according to police. The cops also said he failed field sobriety tests.

Another man, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries in the crash. Both Pelosi and the other man declined transportation to a hospital. There were no passengers in either car.

When a California Highway Patrol officer asked for Pelosi’s license, he also handed over the cop an “11-99 Foundation” membership card, police said. The 11-99 Foundation is a fund that has provided $ 42 million to California Highway Patrol families.

“His eyes appeared red / watery, he was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath,” the officer wrote in the arrest report.

Nancy Pelosi was not in California at the time; she was in Rhode Island to give a commencement speech.

“The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” Drew Hammill, Nancy Pelosi’s spokesperson, said at the time.

Paul Pelosi posted bail shortly after his arrest. He will be arraigned Aug. 3.
